Our first week in London

Our holiday seems like a very long time ago!! Part of the delay in reporting (or boring) you all with news, has been the need to create a blog spot. I didn't want to jam up all your emails with endless photo's of us in the snow, and thought that this might be good way of showing you some of the highlights.
We of course frightened the hell out of Graham and Chris (Rob's London based brother & partner), I think when they invited us the year before they really didn't think we would turn up. But we of course we did and the invasion began.

We all loved London, a very beautiful city with so much to see and do. Well we seemed to do it all! Graham prepared an itinerary that would have scared off lesser men. Not us - we were fearful and dashed from one place to another. Rob, with the tube map in one hand, gloves in the other, led us around. We had alot of fun and managed quite well in the cold and the Xmas traffic!
It was all so beautiful, but 3 things stood out for us that first week. Our very first day we attended a soccer match between Fulham and Blackburn Rovers. So cold, so jet lagged but between the icy wind and the chanting of the supporters we were wide eyed and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves.
The second had to be St Paul's, the beauty and history of it all truly took our breath away.
We did a tour of everything! But on our tour of London Tower, Kelly noticed that the Chapel within the grounds had been renovated in the 1700's. She laughed and said that Australia had only just been discovered and the British were already renovating!!
The third was going to Kew Gardens. Now you'll know that Rob loved it! But for me it was extra special as we met up with my cousin Jenny. I hadn't seen Jen for over 11 years and it was so fabulous catching up with her. We were lucky enough to see each other again a couple more times, all very rushed but great.

Next stop Xmas in Cumbria.
